Rain, rain, rain

We had a fairly dry Winter, and last week we were about 4" below normal precipitation for the year. All that changed this past week. Beginning last Thursday, through this morning, I have emptied over 8" out of my rain gauge...and there may be another inch Wednesday, before we get into some dry time. Dozens of roads have been closed in the State, and hundreds of people flooded out of their houses. Anyone living near a river or major creek will be under a flood watch for the next several days, as all this rain drains into the waterways. Our immediate area hasn't had any major issues...perhaps some water in the basements, etc., but much of the Midwest has had a pretty nasty week.

Here in Central Florida, we've had the driest April on record since the 1800's. I think the official total was something like .1 or .01 inches.

Brush fires have charred thousands of acres. Looks like we're on track to get some measurable rain over the next couple of days, though.

I think we might be in for a drier than average summer, though.

Probably hotter, too.

My niece in Missouri said a couple days ago her town was 3/4 flooded but she was still OK. Haven't heard from my brother but I'm hoping he hasn't floated away.
