Re Chicken: Anyone remember pin feathers?

I remember when my mom would get a whole chicken to roast, tho it was already plucked etc, first the tiny little black stubs where the feathers were had to be removed. Sometimes she would try to use a tweezers or singe them off. I can remember that burnt feather smell ugh. And of course it would be washed inside & out. With the TGV turkey too. Seems like by the time I was out on my own somehow the processors figured out how to do that pre - consumer.

I remember them now! My mother would do the same thing, Geezerette, with the tweezers, but I don't think she used the singe method. Thank goodness she was a stay-at-home mom and had time to do such a thankless chore! Ugh.
