Really, but why?

I'm surprised, TreeGuy, you're often aloft! Not that high, I guess. :)

I'm tied in with a rope that's through a tree crotch ten to thirty feet above me. Anything happens, I'm swinging out, safe and sound. If these hammocks give way, or twist, dumping out their occupants, these people are going for a longggggggg drop, with no rope to hold them!

My palms sweat, literally, when I see tight rope walkers doing their thing between buildings, gorges, etc., or when I watch free climbers ascending sheer mountain faces.

In truth, once a skilled tree climber, like me, is tied in, he/she is safer than someone walking down the street, when it comes to unexpected falls.

Of course they do
Yep, they do. I'd be worried about the main cables they're attached to. Occasionally, when I'm nearly hanging in mid-air, at 60', gunning my chainsaw, pruning branches, I briefly think about how old my current rope is. Not a good thing to meditate on, at that point. I also am attached to a climber's lanyard, at the same time.

At around 25, I had a hammock break, at its sewn seams, out of nowhere, as I was in it. My lower back never fully recovered. The store where I bought it went out of business, shortly thereafter. I wasn't very litigious, back then.
