Recalls, recalls, recalls! But sales are up! Have you been recalled?

I have, three times, but I haven't bothered with any of them as they didn't seem serious enough to bother with. And, according to an NPR report, about one third of recalls aren't responded to, so what's up with you?

Wife took her Malibu in last week to get two recall items repaired. Dealer got her right in, took care of both issues in less than an hour. It has worred me that GM has so many recalls, lately. We have driven 99% GM vehicles over our married life. Two experiences with Ford products and those were both disasters. One Chrysler product and hated it. ALL manufacturers, today, make great vehicles. They rely, however, on parts manufactured by outside vendors. Sometimes there can be an "Oh, oh" and it results in a recall. That's life....

I haven't been recalled but I'm pretty sure I have some defective parts.
HAHA! I can recall Freddy Fender!:)

If My Body Were a Car

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull ... But that's not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close

My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it --

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!

Never had a recall. I have mostly driven GM products, purchased new.

My vehicle now is a GMC '05 Envoy with less than 25,000 miles on the clock. I haven't taken many long trips in it,
as you can see; usually to the stores and/or my club. It is one of my best friends.

My 2008 Silverado is my best friend. She had 10,000 miles on her when purchased in '09. (I like to have someone else take the early depreciation hit!) Just turned over 143,000. Yes... that's ONE HUNDRED forty three thousand miles. We've been through ice, snow, hail, rain, mud... you name it and we've gone through it together. The driver's seat has 143,000 occupied miles. The passenger seat... less than 5,000 since I've owned her. The back seat... less than a couple hundred. It's just me and my truck, most days.
I got rid of my '04 at just under 150,000. This '08 has been a super truck and hoped she and I could retire about the same time. I'd like to keep her as a "bang around truck" after I retire. HR spent almost 2 hours on a video conference with me last Wednesday, trying to convince me to commit to one more year. I just turned 68. I need to retire. But... they REALLY want me to stay for ... one more project...!! If I do stay another year, don't know if the Silverado will stay reliable enough to run up and down the highway. On second thought, she may be more reliable than I!!!!! :>)
