Recharging Using a USB Port

Darn it. I hate having to recharge items using a USB port. It’s ok for little things that don’t get used too often.

When I went to replace my Phillips Sonicare tooth brush, I found all the current models require a USB port and the charge only lasts a couple of weeks. My old model would last about 6 - 8 weeks. It had to go into the base and took overnight to charge. I’d much rather have this.

I suppose I’ll be encountering more items that require this. Have you?

yes I find anything that requires a USB charge doesn't hold the charge for very long, it's frustrating... I have several things... including night lights and strip lights..

USB chargers just plug into a standard wall outlet, some can accommodate multiple devices. I use one of these:

We use Phillips Sonicare tooth brushes. They used to be very expensive, but I got some that were, if I recall correctly, $30 apiece. Each one sits on a little "stand" that plugs into the wall socket ... so it charges up all the time. No USB stuff involved and no waiting for recharging.

My Sonicare has it's own charger stand, it rarely is off the charger longer than it takes to brush my teeth, although when we travel I don't bother taking the charger, as it retains enough charge to last well over a week.

I have one of those old fashioned toothbrushes. You have to move it yourself. The only charging I do is to take a nap so my arm is ready to go.

My Sonicare has it's own charger stand, it rarely is off the charger longer than it takes to brush my teeth, although when we travel I don't bother taking the charger, as it retains enough charge to last well over a week.

I guess I’ll have to break down and buy a dedicated USB charger. I definitely don’t want any device that has to be plugged in all the time. The companies that make these devices must save a lot of money by not having items that hold a longterm charge. Maybe they degrade faster.
