Recommendations on Mending a Tear

My daughter is bringing granddaughter's new pants to repair a tear. I told her to check if the company will replace (remember Toughskins?).
They will repair but charge shipping and no storefront nearby.
I've done repairs, patches on my kids stuff but these are from Patagonia so want it to look professional. Any suggestions before I order Tenacious Tape from Amazon?
 

There is a technique called Invisible Reweaving (Or French weaving) that will work. There are companies that do it, or if you have patience, you could probably do it yourself. Just look it up on the internet, and see if you think it's something you could do. If not, you could send the garment to them to do.

Hmm I'll look it up.
Trying to avoid sending.
This technique is what I had in mind.
 
My other half suggests that if it is a woven fabric, check to see if the tear is in a place where it's obvious and can be seen. If not, going down PeppermintPatty's route not only makes sense, it makes the repair a lot easier. bobcat48's suggestion of "Invisible Reweaving (Or French weaving") can produce very good results, again though, it's down to the fabric and whether it's plain or patterned.
