Red Clover is found growing in many places around the word, but many people like myself buy the herb in health food stores. I used it personally throughout my menopause to relieve hot flashes and the rare night sweats I was having. I'd always prefer to use something natural, as opposed to something like hormone replacement therapy.

Besides being used for women, Red clover also benefits men's health. It is known to aid the prostate, help with sexual problems, and lower PSA levels. This herb also has some other benefits. Here's some information about it...http://www.natmedtalk.com/wiki/Red_Clover

Thanks for the info SeaBreeze. We have both red and crimson clover growing on our place but have never used it for anything except to add to our compost. I imagine crimson clover would have the same benefits. I'll have to check to see if it does.

I think it comes in various shades of red, which would include crimson. I've read that it's best to boil the flowerheads and leaves. Dried flowerheads can be added to tea. Also, dried flowerheads can be ground into a protein-rich flour.

Sorry Larry, I didn't know that, and just assumed...and we all know what they say about people who assume. Anyway, I couldn't find any real info either about the crimson. The first link says that they sell an organic crimson clover tea for therapeutic purposes, but I'm really wondering if even they know the difference. :)

The second link talks about both, but only mentions using the red clover as a health tea. I am curious now, if I ever find something about it, I'll post for sure. Thanks for pointing that out to me. :D I had some reddish colored clover growing in my back yard years ago, guess I have no idea which it was.
