Dollar Store laundry detergent is just fine if you don't roll in dirt or get grease all over your clothes. It amazes me what people spend on detergent, Tide, for example, when their clothes are worn just for daily activities such as shopping or doing housework...

Tide, goodness that is a washing detergent of yesteryear here in the UK, I haven't seen it on sale for a very long time.

Well, here it is starting the new year at an exorbitantly high price with some others not much cheaper...

with likes Tide, I still get dirty but she uses coupons and that makes the difference, plus she hates dollar stores...

I'll check it out.

I've been using Tandil Mountain Breeze from Aldi with a glug of generic chlorine bleach.

I agree Ralphy. When the kids are outside getting grass stains and mud on their clothes or hubby at work with grease, concrete, etc. heavy-duty detergents are necessary. Tide is just one and might be the most expensive. I will admit Tide is a great laundry detergent but the price is ridiculous and maybe that's why it failed in the UK; people may have refused to pay the inflated price.

The best coupon I've ever seen for Tide is $2.50. Walmart sells Tide for $11.97 so with the coupon = $9.47 for the 100 oz size.

Crazy.

A lot of Dollar Store stuff is not bad. We get many snacks there..crackers, and all. I often get sandwich and storage bags there. Rick always brings sandwiches to work, and also some kind of snack, so I go through a lot of bags. The one thing I want to pay more for is dish detergent. Have found the Dollar Store or Aldi brands just do not cut it for me.
I do go to Aldi to get , umm...personal cleansing wipes, you know, to get the job done well after spending time in the throne room. Actually like them better than higher priced brands

I think Tide and others basically have version of Oxy Clean in them. I forget the name but I think it sufectants or something like that. Heavy grease should have a stain remover or a little extra. I soak, suds up then use a tooth brush on nasty stains.

Yes I buy a lower priced one from Aldi, and if hubby has grime from gardening etc, I give that area a bit of a scrub with warm water before tossing in the machine.
Wash whites separately adding a dash of one of those enzyme soakers that last for ages. Our items last for years, though I do dry naturally on the back deck rather than out in the sun, or in a dryer.
