Remember "Mid-century modern"?

I remember going to my grand parents home. They had this big dark furniture. It was kind of rounded with lots of dark wood. It would take for guys to move a living room chair. All the upholstery had these big gaudy flowers woven into it. Then things changed. I remember watching Howdy Doody when we got new furniture. It was all "Mid-century modern". The 1950s. It was squarish and with pastel upholstery. It had small legs, which gave the furniture a "floating" look. You also needed a big stereo cabinet.
I used to love Perry Mason's office. It was that new stuff.
Do you remember when "Mid-century furniture, and 1950s architecture was the "end" thing?

I remember it just like yesterday!

What I remember when visiting my grandparents (1960's/70's)

What dear husband and I had when we were starting out (1980's)

That material on the turquoise couch lasted foreverrrrr. The padding was also designed to keep going too. The couch from my high school days looked and felt exactly the same when I sold the house about 2010.

When I was little my grandmother's brother and his wife had a mid-century modern home built that made me feel like I was visiting the Jetsons.

It was quite a shock for a little country bumpkin that grew up in a century-old farmhouse filled with generations of clutter.

Today when I drive by that little house I smile because somewhere along the way it turned into a ranch with a walkout basement.
