Anyone remember these costumes with the plastic masks?

I remember I couldn’t see out of the masks, they smelt of plastic and the rubber band to keep them on pulled your hair. I’ll never for get the plastic smell of the mask stuck to your face as you sweat running from house to house.

I remember it being a big deal to have the extra money for one of those costumes and masks.

We had a couple that got passed around and handed down until there wasn’t much left.

Most of our costumes were put together with odds and ends of old clothes and makeup found at home.

When raising kids sometimes imagination is more important than money.

No "boughten" costumes in my house while growing up. Costumes were cobbled together out of what you could find. There was a box in the attic full of old rubber masks, hats, old dresses, overalls, bathrobes, wigs, and odds-and-ends. We were usually hobos or old ladies or princesses from stuff in the box.

Those old Halloween costumes were awful! They came in a box with a plastic mask and a plastic cape. Those masks made it nearly impossible to breathe, and I shudder to think what the costume was actually made of.

Not to mention the fact that the masks were actually pretty terrifying. 🤣

That is adorable!

A guy at work came in as a basket of laundry.

He cut into and somehow fitted a plastic laundry basket around his waist and he and his wife filled it with assorted clothing and towels and things. They pinned small items of laundry up into his shirt so it looked like a big pile, I thought it was really funny.
