I DO remember Boxcar Willie. I don't ever remember him having any big hits, but he was one of the first ones to have the albums that were advertised on TV back then. He would sing a lot of the popular songs of the time, and he did a really good job on most of them.
After that, there was Roger Whittaker, and he had a beautiful voice, and I think they sold a lot of different albums from him.
It seemed like, every few months, they would have come out on TV with some of these specials that you could only order on the TV ad, by calling in and ordering.
I think it was Time Magazine, or one of those big magazines like that, that also used to put out big album sets of music, usually by some choir or other, like Legends of Country Music, or Songs of the Old West, or some such name as that. They would be a five-record set, and you had to pay for them by so much a month, because they were expensive.
I remember buying one set of old cowboy songs that way.
I am glad that now I can just download the songs I want to listen to, but I did enjoy having all those wonderful old records back then.
