Replacement Window Cost

You’ll all have a fit with this one.
I moved to my house in town, April 2016, in July 2017 I had installed……
Front door with side panel……large living room window with side panel on each side to open……2 large bedroom windows…..1 large kitchen window……and a set of terrace doors.
Just under 18,000.00….Polar Windows Canada…..25 years warranty.
Had Polar Windows installed at the farm over the years, as well.

I received a flyer in the mail from Anderson Windows offering $299 off of each window installation. OMG, how much do these thigs cost? I wouldn't pay even $299 let alone having that as a discount.
Window Replacement Cost Factors. Replacement windows cost an average of $700 but can range from $300 to $1,200. Window prices vary based on the type of window material, glass type, style, and labor costs. The average price of window materials is $80 to $1,300 but can vary by durability and customization.

What they don't say also is, when replacing windows on a 1940 house, they measured the (inside) of the inner sill, then CUT them out with a reciprocating saw.

The window bottom sill might be at a 160 degree downslope, the installed window then gets a slap on piece of wood to cover the open space.

I was pissed when they did this was I asked "Will you replace the "Entire window"?

They said they would, turns out, they can lie all they want, you need to get it written.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about that. We had our windows replaced a few years back. All of that was included in our low carrying charges (aka HOA fees). I think it was $494 a month back then and includes housing, heat and hot water. I agree with @PeppermintPatty that shopping around is the best thing to do before making a decision. I'd also check the reputation of whatever company you're thinking about using.

When I owned that house, I had the windows replaced. The house was built late 70's and had single pane metal windows. The windows were vinyl double pain of course. They did help with heating but not as much with sound as I had hoped. I can't remember the cost at all anymore. I did all windows and one slider, less than 1200 square feet house.

We had 18 windows and the back door replaced about a year and ½ ago. They weren’t cheap but so worth the cost. Our old windows were almost impossible to open and shut, had several cracked panes, and fogged up in between the panes on a regular basis. The new windows are tight, easy to open/close, and have reduced outdoor noice a great deal. We love them and do not regret spending the money at all.

Pella replaced all of our windows in 2018. Some were becoming foggy and they just weren't energy efficient for our hot summers and occasionally cold winters. I went with them because our next door neighbor used them and raved about her new windows. The rep from Pella gave us a demonstration and showed us the temperature coming through our glass door onto the patio. It was eye-opening.

We have lots of big windows and even 7 transom windows in our house. The cost was a bit over $22,000. I was working at the time and wanted to make sure everything in our house was up to par so I could avoid those costs when I retired. It will take years to make up for the cost, but our electric bills have been much lower over the past 5 years and if we ever sell the house the new windows will add value.
