Resealable Bags

Some are easy and some are hard. The hard ones I just roll the open end over a time or two and hold it closed with a clothes-pin.

They can be a pita, but I've quit using the sliders. They just don't close the bag well and pop open with disasterious results.

I'd rather buy bags from $1 store instead.

I keep Ziploc Slider bags with the zipper/slider closer for when commercially made bags, that come with the food product, don't close.
And of course, every other use for food storage.
When we went to the US in the RV, I‘d buy dozens of these; they’re all gone now. They’re hard to find or overpriced in Canada. I use a dollar store brand when I can find them.

For resealing food products, I compress the bag as well as I can and use a twist tie or elastic. I hoard those.

Yes I find the bags with the sliders are pretty unpredictable as to whether they let air in or not.. so I use the clip together ones.. . The latter do need lining up more, but they keep air out much better ..

Yeah, I use them sparingly and only when needed because they are an expensive item. But I have a 24 year old son who does the shopping and doesn't hesitate to buy things based on price.
I do pay for everything. But since I've realized that I'm getting older and that I'll be dead one day, I want to enjoy the simple pleasures in life while I can.

It's a matter of compare and save:
Travelling to Europe and other places is expensive. Storage bags...not so bad.

The zip type bags romaine lettuce come in are often hard to open. I have to pick at the zipper with my fingernail or I tear the bag trying to pull them open.
Supermarkets up here sell Romaine by the head with no plastic wrap. Same thing for radishes, green onions, carrots, sprouts and all other vegetables. Plastic wrapping is wasteful, and not needed if you are going to use the product soon. I take my re useable cloth shopping bags with me when I go shopping. They get washed every week at home, and dried on the back yard clothes line. They stay in the trunk of my car, so they are always available at the stores. If you must buy those bags of romaine, try using a nail file to get the bag open. JimB.

yes I know how to do it, but often the slider opens up the other end once it's been zipped up..
My experience also. If you open and close the bag too often the zipper doesn't work after a short term. Other people, such as in the Ukraine, have much worse problems so I can't complain about a plastic bag. Be grateful for what we do have.

The "resealable" bags containing vegetables, deli meats, etc., are a joke. Usually not resealable, unfortunately.

As for Ziploc bags and similar, I second @jimintoronto 's suggestion to place the bag flat on the counter when zipping.

Yes, they are sometimes difficult to open and close. I prefer to empty the food into reusable containers.
