Hi folks,
I was just cruising the internet and came across the forum here. Lots of interesting topics and so on and thought I'd stop in for a while.

Retired and living in the prairie provinces, winding down in life and doing only what I feel like doing. Thank goodness the intense push of my early working years are behind me and now I get to enjoy the sunshine and new grand babies who happen to live just down the road from me! Yay!

Welcome Debrah N: You are most welcome on this site. Nice people and interesting lives. I'm in Sydney, Australia, a long way from you I suppose.

Welcome Debrah N! Folks from all over the world congregate here for lots of fascinating (and perhaps a few mundane) conversations. I'm in the suburban Maryland, Washington D.C. area, USA.

Being in Washington, you're a little closer than Australia! I've got to figure out how to do the profile details, but in the meantime, I'm on the prairies in the middle of Canada.

I almost got talked into travelling once to the UK many years ago and then found a way to get out of it. And yes, that does mean I'm one of those rare birds who hates travel. But thanks for the welcome and I do enjoy 'seeing' far away places 2nd hand. We were just watching that series called Ted Lasso which is set somewhere in London I think. I was remarking to my husband how adorable the community is where it's filmed. Definitely nothing as charming here on the prairies where I live.

Thank you so much Jules and you're 100% right about retirement being great. I'm a bit of an insomniac so if I couldn't have my naps and had to be at a job every day, I'd be in serious trouble I'm sure. So between not having a boss nagging at me...oh wait, my past boss was my husband and he's still here (on the couch beside me at the moment!) so he is still nagging at me. (actually he's not, he's pretty good for not nagging --- because he knows better because I still do all the cooking;) and I know where he lives☺️)

You're right, we have no choice about growing old. But you know, I actually don't mind most of it. The only thing that I find disconcerting is the changes in my skin! That's just 'crepey' if you know what I mean. As to the rest of the process, my philosophy is that it's all part of the process to the next stage of my existence, another kick at another can so to speak.

Welcome to the forum, Debra! I grew up in Coaldale, Alberta. Are you familiar with it? Now, I'm in Toronto :)

Hi Pinky, and no I haven't been through Coaldale so I'm not even sure what part of the province it's in. Until a year and a half ago, I was in Chilliwack, BC and I miss it a lot. Does anyone ever miss Alberta when they leave and move elsewhere? Do you?
