Sure. Lots of them. Do a Goggle search for.......Ontario retirement community locations. Perhaps you could include, in your search , the part of Ontario you are interested in ?? Here is a link to the Ontario Retirement Communities Association. The ORCA is a Province wide association whose members own and operate senior's housing developments. link. Elliott Lake WAS a thriving uranium mining region in central Ontario up to about 1990, when the demand for the product dropped off, world wide. Two mining companies had built a large town with all of the services that the population needed. Hundreds of modern 2 and 3 bedroom homes, town houses, and low rise apartment buildings were owned by the 2 mining companies. Schools, recreation centers, office buildings, stores, a hospital with a helicopter landing pad, a Ontario Provincial Police station, an Ambulance service, and lots of stores.

The town was facing a severe decline in their population. About half of the population moved away to jobs in other parts of Canada. What to do ? The Town of Elliott Lake decided to pivot to become a senior's town, so they assumed ownership of most of the housing assets, that the 2 mining companies GAVE TO THEM FOR FREE. The Town then began a national advertising campaign on TV and radio, to attract senior's to come and live in Elliott Lake.

The prices to buy or rent a home, town house or apartment unit were low, and those prices were fixed for the first 5 years of the program. Along with the senior's, quite a few younger families moved to Elliott Lake, to take up jobs in service industries, as school teachers, Doctors, Nurses and lawyers and business owners. Senior's need home care, yard care, and automotive services. In 2024 the population of Elliott Lake is 12,789 people.

I will point out an important fact........American senior citizens cannot move to Canada, to live. Canada does not offer a "Senior's Visa". The best that an American can get is a short stay in Canada, of less than 183 days in a 12 month period of time, and during that period in Canada they cannot work, attend a Canadian college, use any of our Social Services benefits, and they MUST buy travel medical insurance for the period of time they will be living on a temporary basis in Canada. It's fairly remote, that's for sure! Winters are brutal cold most of the time and in spring there's a short blackfly season where swarms of them are out looking for a donation from humans. Most people agree their bites are worse than a mosquito's. Speaking of mosquitos, they come out in numbers after the black flys and they're BIG and hungry so sitting out after the sun goes down is pretty much a no-bueno o_O
