Rising water...

Geezer Garage

My neighbor just next door and down stream was getting some flooding from all the winter run off. Larry is only there a few months in the fall, so another neighbor and I tackled the problem this morning. I plowed out the drive, and Wayne came over with his small excavator and did some ditching, and took out part of a beaver dam.

I would have just got stuck with my heavy rubber tired machine. I think he will be alright now if the melt off doesn't come too quickly. We won't see high water for a few weeks yet. Just got another six inches of snow over the last few days, but I think that will be the last of it for the year.

Great job, not everybody would do things like that.

I see that you posted the pictures yesterday and I assume that they
snow was also yesterday, we are looking for Summer weather here,
starting next week, hopefully.

They may. They seem to be a little further down stream this year, but if you take out too much of the dam, they will be up to investigate, and it's amazing how fast they can make the repair. We will see. We also did some ditching, and berm work behind the dam which may suffice even if the little engineers return. I try not to interfere with them, as they prevent a lot of erossion, and I enjoy having them around.

Will the beavers rebuild the dam Geezer? If so, what happens then?
