Riverdance Icon Michael Flatley diagnosed with an Aggressive type of Cancer

Michael has revealed he has been diagnosed with an 'aggressive' form of cancer, in a statement shared to his social media accounts tonight.

According to the release, the Riverdance star, 64, has undergone surgery and is currently being cared for by a team of doctors in hospital.

A statement shared to Michael's Instagram page, reads: 'Dear friends, we have something personal to share, Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

'He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors. No further comments will be made at this time. We ask only for your prayers and well wishes. Thank you. Teamlord.'

My husband and I were lucky to him perform twice. We took our daughter the second time & she really enjoyed it. So sad to hear this news.

Sadly and I'm going out on quite a limb here but he'll likely die.
If not of cancer, then something else. We all will die eventually
but hopefully of more natural causes than gunfire.

What a rare and unique talent! So much energy too.
I own Riverdance on DVD and years ago I went to one of his live shows which I don't remember the name of.
I also saw Riverdance performed live.

I can watch that synchronized Irish dancing again and again. It's so well done that it often brings tears to my eyes to realize the perfection of it all.
