The Groundhog
The Easter bunny’s stays busy,
Coloring eggs and weaving baskets in a hurry.
Tom the Thanksgiving turkey spends his time,
Plumping up and having to always worry.
Santa and the elves- assembling toys,
Stacking them in piles, way up in the sky.
While the reindeer exercise daily,
Ready for when they must fly so high.
The donkey and the elephant,
Wave flags, flying in the breeze.
Spend all the whole year through,
The constituents trying to please.
The April fool’s jester,
Tells one bad joke after another.
we all know the tasks that are done
By both father and by mother.
Even the New Year’s baby,
Has a job each year to change.
While cupid sharpens his arrows,
That hearts- he may rearrange.
The holiday critter- the groundhog,
has the best life of all
Who’s only job and work all year.
Is to make his shadow tall.
when that shadow has been cast,
And seen both far and wide..
The only thing ol’ Phil has to do,
Scurry back in his hole and hide.
