'Opie Taylor' on'The Andy Griffith Show' '60-'68
'Richie Cunningham' on 'Happy Days' '74-'84
He is now a well respected movie director,has won 2 Academy awards for'A Beautiful Mind' '01. He won Best Director,movie won Best Picture
One of my favorite movies he co starred is 'The Music Man' '62 he played Shirley Jones's young brother'Withrop'.Ron was 8yrs old

It's incredible to even think he's 66 now isn't it, when you think how relatively recent ( to us) it was to see him acting in Happy Days before he became such a huge name as a producer and director ... he's just a couple of years older than me, so how can he possibly be old? 😂...Happy Birthday Richie Cunningham...aka.. Ron Howard... all round nice guy!!..
 
The whole family is in the business - his father, Rance, brother Clint & mother Jean.
Remember Clint in "Gentle Ben?" I have an episode of "The Fugitive" with him when he was around 4 or 5.
Jean guest starred in several hilarious "Married With Children" episodes:
 
Howard is a hands-on father and dedicated family man. His parents were the same. I could tell while watching him play “Opie Taylor” that he was going places. So intelligent and what a great child actor. Kind of reminds me of Cauley Mc Culkin. Cauley was a child star actor that few people know a lot about. He never used a teleprompter for his lines. Cauley was able to memorize his lines and was a perfectionist. He still plays in his band and does some cameo roles. He seems to have his life together now that he has put his parents at a distance.

Very similar personalities when it comes to acting.
 
Happy Birthday Opie! He's one who didn't get eaten by Hollywood fame or the fall from the spotlight. He's someone to be proud of....an amazingly creative and talented man. Hard to believe he's that old though.
