The roofer did come today, at least his crew did. He called me before they arrived and said if I was paying with a check to make it out to him and not his business. At least he was honest about it explaining it was for tax reasons. Also, it was $200 more than he said it would be 5 weeks ago. Four men, just under an hour. Replaced rotted wood and re-shingled. I asked the foreman if there was any warranty and he said "Not with just a repair."
No written contract, just gave me a general receipt. I guess as long as it doesn't leak, it doesn't have to be beautiful.
