Rummage sales - garage sales -yard sales - boot sales -flea markets - thrift stores ?

I know they're called many different names. It's selling your old junk . ( I mean "treasures" to some people ! ) We have so many "rummage sales" here ....... that's what we call it in my neck of the woods (Milwaukee ,Wi USA) I used to LOVE going to the sales . Seems like every block there was a sign for a sale being held and I'd make a "detour" going to where I wanted to be !!! I've bought so many treasures - I even bought my toilet for $25 !!! Since there's so many wonderful people here from different parts of the world ,I'd LOVE to hear if you do something like that ! We do have thrift stores here (Goodwill).
It's especially fun if you buy something cheap & it ends up being worth big $$$ !!! I finally stopped going to them when I realized I have TOOMUCHSTUFF ...

They call them yard sales or garage sales here in New Jersey and years back I really enjoyed going. I sold on E bay back then and made quite a bit of money. Also bought for my home as well. Today the fees are so high to sell I gave up and I certainly don't need to add anything to my home. We do have a Salvation Army store that just recently opened up and I like to look through that once in awhile. Just recently I found a Pyrex lid that I broke from my favorite casserole dish. I think I paid $1.50 for it and a replacement on Amazon went for almost $10.00. Right now I'm looking for a decorative planter for the top of a bird bath that broke. I'm sure one will turn up. I probably should have a sale for myself but it's a lot of work hauling the stuff out and marking it all. I do sell on Craig's List once in awhile.

I hit various thrift shops when I'm out running errands.

I buy clothes, kitchen items, furniture, books and just plain stuff.

Today I went to our local mission, bought a book for a buck and an EAPG bread plate in the Roman Rosette pattern, similar to the one in the picture, for $1.99.

Very pretty plate Aunt Bea. Are you going to use it or hang it for display? I collected Roses and Rooster china. I liked it because it had so many odd pieces to the set. I had it above my kitchen cabinets and had to climb up on the counter top to clean them. I'd hand them all to my Mom and get down and wash them all,climb up again to put them all back. An all day job. My knees won't allow that sort of thing anymore. Most pieces I got at garage sales and sold them off on Ebay for sometimes six times the amount I paid for them. I just looked and that pattern doesn't sell at all now.It was a rather gaudy pattern but went with my more country kitchen at the time.

I will use it and eventually pass it on to someone else. It's all part of my catch and release program, similar to the one that fishermen use. It allows me to shop and enjoy things without being buried alive, LOL!!!

I had to ban all of the items that sat on top of the kitchen cabinets for the same reason, it just became too dangerous for me to climb up and clean them.

I like your Roses and Rooster china, it reminds me of the hand painted Italian and Portuguese pottery. It's funny how collectibles seem to go in and out of favor. It seems like people want what their grandparents had and seldom want what their parents had, go figure.
