I couldn't believe some of the early speculation. It was pretty obvious what the cause was going to be given the country/location involved.

Either an agrecious mistake or they thought the plane/cargo/passenger list had tactical value. Either way not good.

Yep, that was the flight, @RadishRose . Just found why it felt more recent... cause determined 6 years ago:

"A Joint Investigation Team in 2018 found that the aircraft was shot down by a Russian-made BUK surface-to-air missile fired from that territory, and that the missile launcher used to shoot down MH17 originated from the 53rd Anti-aircraft Brigade of the Russian Federation, stationed in Kursk, Russia."

Exactly. Nothing new to see here. It's just that the consequences were practically zero, so it happened again. Which is why supporting Ukraine is important - fight now, or fight later.
