RV sales surge as travelers seek to avoid crowds

We just sold our fifth-wheel and truck last month. Both were snapped up fast. It has been a great ten years traveling all over the country for 4-5 months each year, but it was time to move on.

I had put in an offer on a house in the mountains back in April but the deal fell through after the inspection. I'm hoping I'll have better luck when more places come on the market after things calm down. It'll be our first summer in Florida in ten years and I'm not looking forward to it. It's hot-hot-hot already.

Our local news had an interview with a big RV dealer in Columbia, MO., a couple of days ago, and he said his sales are soaring, and he is having trouble keeping up with demand. I imagine driving on some of the nations major highways is going to be a bit more of a challenge with almost more big trucks and RV's, than cars.

I have also heard there is increased demand, but since the factories are going through the same shut-downs as everywhere else stock is limited to what's on the lot.

Maybe this is a good time to sell our motorhome. :D

I think everybody, at one time or another, thinks about heading out in a RV. Doing the National Parks. Sunsets over the desert. Spending the night by a crystal clear stream.
Hmm. How much does one go for?

For sure! If our local news is accurate, This would be a great time to sell an RV, if you are not planning on using it very much. Bunches of people are feeling "pent up" over this virus, and motorhome travel will be increasing far more than airlines, etc.

Thanks for the info! I wondered several months ago if this would be the case. I'd love to find a Winnebago Travato 59G on the cheap after the pandemic winds down but am betting that the small vans aren't what's selling right now.

Well, if they're selling more now, there won't be any deals. :D

The best place in the world to buy used RVs? Mesa, Arizona in the summer.

Every year in late spring and early summer, hundreds of the gazillion folks who spend the winter there decide to pack it in and move back north permanently. Or, God forbid, they die and the widow/widower/kids don't want to stay.

The used RV lots take the RVs on consignment and prices are great.
