Wife & I took Sadie to the for shots to renew her county dog license last Friday. She showed signs of not feeling well Sunday afternoon. Returned Sadie to the vet yesterday, to learn she had Lyme's Disease. Sadie does not venture far. from. the house if she goes at all and it is not beyond realm of reason Sadie was not infected at the vet, considering the number of the veterinarian said she treated in short time previously.

The vet is like a hospital, no telling what you will catch.

Our 8 year old lab is battling lymes, too. He developed weakness in his hind legs which was his first symptom. He's been on antibiotics for over a week and making very little progress. Its a nasty disease in humans and dogs. Hoping your dog makes a full recovery. These tiny ticks come into our yard on rabbits and birds. We use insecticide but it doesn't seem to work 100 %.

My dog had Lyme disease a few years ago. It was awful for him, and worried me terribly. The treatment worked. Now he gets the vaccine, even though it is only 60% effective. He's also on Bravecta to keep the ticks from attaching, and that works well. It does not keep any ticks who use the dog as a "park and ride" from attaching to humans, however. If that happens to you, get immediate medical attention (including from the E.R.) if you see even the beginning of the bullseye rash. My daughter did, and went to the E.R., and the doctor told her that she did the right thing.

I hope your dogs' treatments are effective, and and that a positive outcome is around the corner. @Mr. Ed and @Wigglestein.

Sadie had a fever of 104 degrees, if the fever rises to 105, she has to be hospitalized.
Our lab, Trapper, has not improved. His temp is also 104 today. We switched him back to doxycycline. He was on it for a few days then switched to amoxicillin. We are thinking it might not be just lymes but also ehrlichiosis. Hubs had both several years ago and was down for weeks. A combo of lymes and ehrichiosis can take dogs and human a month to shake.

Animal lovers feel for people like yourselves, the poor fur babies cannot express their feelings except to look at us with love which they do even when they are poorly. I pray that your dogs get well soon. I had not thought to treat the vets as a hospital, thank you for that, it is something we should all be aware of.

Sorry to hear that, wishing the best for Trapper.
