Safe Alcohol Consumption? There's No Such Thing

The article didn't define "moderate" and didn't say what alcoholic beverage the people in the study drank.
Italians generally have wine with dinner. Priests drink sacramental wine and holy communion wine, and their altar wine is usually not fully fermented so they add brandy to it as a preservative. Neither Italians nor priests have shrunken heads (euphemism).

I think an occasional drink is good for you. I believe what "the old folks" say, that a glass of wine is good for the blood and a shot of whiskey is good for the heart and lungs. It's relaxing, and that's good in general.

I have a theory, if your ancestors were heavy drinkers, then
you are a bit more tolerant to it!

My Father and his Father were both heavy drinkers, so when
I got older, I became a heavy drinker too, it didn't seem to
affect me, I always remembered what had happened in the
bar, the night before and I really drank too much, I never was
able to get enough it seemed.

I don't drink very much or very often now, but I seem to be OK,
so far.

Many people that I knew in the past would be falling down in
minutes after a couple of beers, something strange that I couldn't
understand, so I started asking about their Fathers, that is where
my theory came from.

Alcohol is a toxin, which is why excess consumption is known as intoxication. But there again the tannin in tea may cause nausea, especially if consumed on an empty stomach. It may also hinder your body's ability to absorb iron from certain foods. To get the most benefit from tannin rich tea, you should drink it in moderation.

Caffeine consumption is, habit forming. Some side effects linked to excess intake include anxiety, restlessness, tremors, irregular heartbeat, and trouble sleeping. Too much caffeine may also promote headaches, migraine, and high blood pressure.

Dig deep enough and you will find enough bugs in water to put you off H2O for life.

BS! Wine is good for you and other forms of alcohol in moderation don't hurt anything. Better off testing your local water & air before screaming "bring back prohibition."
