I was looking in to some herbs for prostate health and saw palmetto was high up on the list. After reading much about it and testimonials of former users I decided not to pursue it any further. Anyone here have experience with this herb?

My husband started on it not that long ago (couple of months back), but hasn't noticed any difference, though hubby started on it as a means of promoting good prostate health, not due to having any prostate issues.

In the late 1990s, it was probably the only herbal "Remedy",
available at the time, so it has maintained the position being
the one that people remember and the name is easy!

Today there are many others that are much better than Saw
Palmetto, which was at one time called the "Native American's
Aphrodisiac", it didn't help me when I took it for a long time.

Beta sitosterol worked better for me, I had BPH, but there are
probably a lot more now.

I think Squat Dog had it right. At best, all you can do is delay an operation. The prostate continues to grow all of one's life and if one lives long enough, an operation is inevitable.

Saw palmetto extract has been studied as a possible treatment for people with prostate cancer and for men with lower urinary tract symptoms associated with Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).[3][5][6] As of 2018, there is insufficient scientific evidence that saw palmetto extract is effective for treating cancer or BPH and its symptoms.[5][6][7]

One 2016 review of clinical studies with a standardized extract of saw palmetto (called Permixon) found that the extract was safe and may be effective for relieving BPH-induced urinary symptoms compared against a placebo.[8] Wikipedia

One thing I feel is worthy of mentioning seeing how we're on the topic of... my husband claims that his urinary functions are at their best after sex.
