With Levon's passing the cats will jump into the car and keep me company. I'll sit there sorting books or tossing trash from under the seats. Today we got into the car to head for the Y. It was warm today but not incredibly hot. As I opened the door...MRRROW. Where was it coming from? MRRROWW. Not in the trunk, not under the hood, not in the car. MRRRRROWWW. My daughter yelled "It's Levon"...kind of a surreal moment, I know it can't be Levon but I can't say that. MROWWWWW.

It was Mr. Foote on the floor in the backseat. From now on I inspect every corner before I lock the car for the night. Ten degrees hotter and he might have died. We whisked him into the house and into a cool shower in the sink. Then I sucked water into a straw and fed almost a cup to him. Poor baby is fine and purring now. Talk about feeling guilty...Mr foot 001.jpg

Wow Fur, glad he's okay! I don't let my cat in my cars unless we're taking him with us to go camping, then he rides in the truck with us. Never leave him in there alone though. Doesn't take much for those little ones to overheat and possibly die in a hot car. I know someone who left their puppy in a kennel in the car for several hours on a 70 degree day in the shade, it didn't matter, the dog died from the heat even though the windows were cracked. You're smart to cool him in the water and make sure he stayed hydrated. That was a close call. :(
