School Bullying

Bullying will never stop, no matter what the "bullying" is about. Heck, when I was in high school, I was "bullied" due to how skinny I was (98 lbs), but of course, back then it wasn't called "bullying", it was called "teasing" and wasn't as brutal as today. In fact, some of my classmates still remember those that did "bully" me and have told me how sorry they are that that happened to me. Oh well, I've never been a fighter, so had to put up with it back then.

our step-grandson, age 13, is going through that. He was bullied in his old school, and now, since he moved, it has already started in his new school. He tends to internalize many of his feelings. His mom is working with the new school on this. Does not help that he is also autistic, but functions OK in a mainstream classroom, though they are working to develop an ISP for him, as in his old school.

I started wearing glasses in 1st grade,of course they didn't have the selection they do now.
I spent a long time being called 4 eyes among other things.
Pretty sure that would be labeled bullying today.

Many children have always had the capacity for cruelty. I wonder why that is?

Is it because we as a species, have a natural proclivity toward cruelty, fighting and killing? At least until we became "civilized", and the little ones haven't learned to stifle it yet?

Most outgrow it, or somehow learn compassion after they've had a taste themselves.
