Seeds... I Need Seeds! :-)

I'm on a mission today to find free seeds online. Not having much luck... anyone know of websites that offer seeds maybe for signing up for a newsletter or something? The few that I found have said they've given away all their 2023 seeds. I've already bought a large amount of veggie seeds for the garden starting last fall, but I'm thinking some unordinary or unusual seeds would be fun to try. 👩‍🌾

What made me think of trying it was that last year my daughter ordered a travel planning kit from Germany and it included a free pack of sunflower seeds. She planted them and they came up and looked beautiful. So many people thought it was extremely cool that her sunflower seeds were straight from Germany. 🌻🌻

That's a great idea.
Some sort of seed exchange would be fun. Not that I'm suggesting that here. LOL
Hope you find your seeds.
That's one of the things that keeps coming up... local exchanges and "seed libraries"... but I'm just starting, so have none to exchange. I'm looking at some of the seed retailer sites now... once in a while they give them out with their catalogs.

Oh, I didn't know they did things like that! Yes, I have a membership but I haven't logged in for a very long time... probably soon after they started. Thank you, @SmoothSeas ... I need to check into that.

I have grape tomato and bell pepper seeds I saved from last year's produce. Now if the stores would put out potting soil, I can get started.
That's great, Deb! @debodun I'm very new at gardening and have bought a lot of veggie seeds... but the draw of free unusual sample seeds that I can't buy locally or at the places I shop online is appealing to me. Good luck with the tomatoes and peppers! By the way, my WalMart has potting soil out now, and last year I bought some at Amazon... too late to use, but it kept just fine for spring planting this year.

I had good luck with tomatoes last year - more than I could eat before frost. Unfortunatey most of them split their skins forcing me to eat them quickly. One can only eat so many tomatoes a day. I'm not bothering with winter squash this year - last year's crop was a disaster. The vines take up a lot of room and I only got 4 fruits and for three of those, the small ground animals got to first and the other one was tasteless and stringy.

Didn't know one could get "free" seeds. Don't you have to pay for them?
Didn't know one could get "free" anything! Don't we have to pay for everything?

One year I planted "Heavenly Blue Morning Glories" from seeds. They all came up
and were so beautiful they took my breath away! Planted them again the next
year and only one blossomed just before the winter snow!
short planting season, I guess!

No, you don't pay for them, but from what I've been finding, they run out really fast... probably should have started looking a few months ago. Sometimes it's for signing up for a newsletter or requesting a catalog. Sometimes it's just to get people familiar with their products. I didn't really see anything unusual though, and that's what I wanted.
