Selecting and Ordering Groceries Online

IMG_0461.jpgIt's 9:51 AM and 15 minutes ago I had my grocery order delivered to my front door. I selected the items and ordered online last night before going to bed. This order was delivered free because of the delivery time that I chose. In addition to the fresh produce of broccoli, bell peppers, red onions, celery, egg plant, bananas, green seedless grapes,Braeburn apples, I received milk, eggs, & best of all several bottles of my favorite Yellow Tail Chardonnay wine. This sure beats going out in cold foggy weather. Even if it was warm and sunny, going on line is so much quicker and convenient

I used to order groceries from Webvan in the 90's when we lived in the Bay Area. They were great at first, but gradually went downhill, finally becoming one of the biggest dotcom flops in history. I think we ordered from them for about a year. They put a huge amount of money into infrastructure but apparently their sales couldn't keep up. People weren't that open to ordering groceries online in those days. I think Amazon took them over in the later 2000's.

Walmart has an order on line service here in Jacksonville and I thought it would be great because at the time, I was caring for my husband who was battling prostate cancer. Ordering on line and making a quick trip to the Walmart one half mile from me; would have been great. Not too much time away from my husband. Of course, as luck would have it, the two stores close to me were not taking part in this service. The closest store is 10 miles a way. What happens if I order the groceries and my car doesn't start. Won't want to pay Uber to take me there. Anyone used this service?
