Because I have recently moved back to an area that I have been gone from for 25 years many old friends are gone, deceased or otherwise occupied, and being single, I would enjoy the occasional companionship of a female within 10 years of my own age, for dinner/lunch/petanque/travel etc.
I joined one of the dating sites for a three month subscription and posted my profile. I got quite a bit of response from females within 20 miles of where I live, but this very clever web site wants to nickel and dime you to death in order to communicate with any of the interested ladies. No Problem. I'm a extrovert and have no problem approaching ladies that peek my interest. I also discovered that all the major dating sites are owned and operated by the same company and that they share your info with each other.

I used to belong to an older people's dating site. It was called "Our Time". Didn't find anyone with the same interests as I. I wish you good luck. Now I am at a free dating site that has tons of people. I'm just chatting with a few guys as penpals and that's all I am interested in right now. Good luck to you.
 

Just hang out at a senior center, garden shop, or an art show and you should find plenty of lovely ladies that might be interesting and interested...

What site is this free dating site ?
 
All internet dating sites I know of have more men than women. The only one I know that is totally free is Plenty of Fish (POF) and I do NOT
recommend it for lots of reasons I won't mention here. Numerous people frustrated on that site, especially men.
Yeah you can chat with many people all you want, but that is about as far as it is likely to go.
Everyone has old and very old photos on these sites.

I tried POF and really tried to connect--this was 2-3 years ago. I never got a date and had much frustration. Of course, it depends partly on where you live. Maybe it is better for females but not for me.
 
I actually met the Spousal Equivalent on Plenty of Fish. I tried it only because it was free and wasn't at all impressed with it. Seemed like it was just people wanting to "hook up", but I was browsing through and found this guy who definitely met my requirements and voila! that was that! Before that, I had signed on with Match.Com, eHarmony (what a waste that was!) and some senior dating site that was full of guys looking for a nurse with a purse.
 
The good thing about 55+ communities is that many of the other folks are your age.
