Settle an argument about airfryers

We have an ongoing debate about airfryers in our house. My husband insists it would transform our lives but I don't want one. I am a traditional cook, I like my oven. I don't want a great big gadget taking up room on my worktops and having learn how to use it and clean it. Worse still, if we hardly use it at all it's a waste of money.

Is it really worth the money?

Leve mine!! So easy and quick, not a big deal to clean. Some people use liners but I don't just to avoid any problems. I bake biscuits, cook chicken, hamburgers, steak, pork chops, roast veggies, of course, french fries. They are much easier to clean than the oven or grill. It changed the whole way I cook.

We use ours every day. It's great for cooking fish and chicken! Good for cooking steaks, too, but makes a mess!

I got one of the ones that looks like a toaster oven but has an air-fryer setting, which is basically just the 'broil' setting (top burner) with a fan to circulate the heat. The 'convection' setting is just the bake setting (bottom burner) with a fan to circulate the heat. The toaster setting is both top and bottom burners with no fan.

Ours is integrated in our gas stove. We bought it in 2021. The option is to use the traditional oven or the airfryer. (It eliminates the problem of not having enough counterspace). We like it. We mostly grill, we do not use it often, but it works well. Most of the recipes are designed for a smaller above the counter airfryer, that might cause some problems for some people.

I have the toaster oven with convection setting. I don't cook very often but did find it works well.
Oh and of course it toasts bread too...😜
..air fryers don't.

I think I would like one but I haven't taken the plunge simply because I'm out of room.

Interesting thread. I was gifted an Instant Pot a few years ago. It came with all the gadgetry to use it as an air fryer, but haven't tried the AF aspect because we don't eat meat and I figured it was mostly for cooking meat.

I only use the IP for batches of dry beans, rice or quinoa.

We have one of the toaster ovens by Emeril Legasse, and it bakes, air fries, toasts, and does other things that we do not use it for. Most of the time, we can bake anything we need in the toaster oven and do not need to heat up a regular large oven . When I bake potatoes or chicken, I use the air along with the bake option, and it comes out perfect. I just love my butternut squashed baked like this !
We have not needed to use our stove oven for a long time now.
Even with pizza, I arrange it on the baking sheet so that it fits into the toaster oven and do half at a time.

You know, my microwave is also a speed cook and a convection oven. I don't take advantage of the features nearly enough.
I've got to get my book out and use it for more than heating up coffee. 😉

Mizmo, I make toast in mine on the fry setting, also garlic bread.

Hmmm.....my neighbour has tried with hers and finds it makes the bread too crispy.
Otherwise she is happy with it.
I have to watch out for 'crisp' anything. as teeth are very fragile...don't want to chip or break.

My toaster oven has settings for toast and I have occasionally used convection for short time cooks...single pie , muffin mixes etc.

if you use a liner, than it makes very little mess, you just dispose of the liner once it's all cooled...

This is the type I have. It has just one basket which is big enough for 2 people, and more than enough for me on my own. When I got home tonight, I popped some Calamari into the AF, and it was done in 5 minutes.. the time it took me to get out of my outdoor clothes.. and wash my hands..
