Shopping at the Mall

I miss M & S , they closed their store here.
According to the news today, they're going to close another 30 stores. Apparently their food halls are doing much better than the department stores.

Co-incidentally I was shopping in M&S today

Any clothes that I had from there were top quality. All I have left is a pink blouse. It washes up beautifully. Pale pink isn’t my best colour so rarely wear it, but I can’t give it up because it always looks immaculate.

We don't really talk about 'Malls' here - it's 'shopping centres' or 'retail parks'. Most are out of town and with free parking.
Our nearest ones are in Aberdeen - 40 miles south and largely being in the city centre, have no or very limited parking.
The newest one, Union Square, has a large car park costing £1/hour, but we usually travel by bus which is free for 60+.

It's sad to see a lot of the well known High street stores closing down. I don't use M&S much, but I do miss C&A which stopped trading in the UK some years ago. It's a Dutch company and still has stores through Europe. Mrs. L and I buy a lot of our everyday wear there when we're in Germany.

shopping centres and retail parks are outside...malls are inside.. and yes we do call them Malls here. I suspect you don't go to one very often......yes I sometimes shop in C&A when I'm in Spain.

I was happy to shop at C&A in Switzerland and the price was right.

I use to enjoy going to our mall. I would take my mom and we would make a day of it. They had some quaint little restaurants where we would have lunch . Later on when she needed a wheel chair we still would go. Sometimes she would walk behind it and when she got tired I would push her.
These days I really don't need anything and going without her makes me sad.
The hubby hates shopping and some of my friends have passed on and others are in no shape to walk any distance.
Once in awhile when we visit our daughter we go for a few hours and its a real treat even though I don't buy anything.

I'm disabled so, I have to shop where they have those electric shopping carts. You don't realize how huge most stores are, until you have to hobble around in one. But I have to say that when I need to buy something, I never think of going to the mall, even before I was wheelchair bound. Who wants to park in a mega parking lot, hike to the "North Plaza" section, through the food court, then by the movie theaters, into the West Plaza Section, Gallery Level,, and then make the trek back to your car. Plus pay extra mall prices for the privilege.

I rarely went to the large enclosed malls before Covid and since Covid I have not been there at all. I prefer strip malls where I can go to the store I want, park close, get my stuff, and leave.
