Shut that door,..., (not a famous UK comedians catch phrase), something I used to be told to do as a child

When I was a young boy I was apparently prone to leaving the lounge door open quite often, only to be admonished with the reprimand "Shut that door" by my parents! :)

I think it was probably the worst faut pas I committed, and once I'd had the message rammed home a few hundred times I ended up closing doors after me almost as an obsession, (maybe a good thing if you're trying to reduce heating bills nowadays!).

Beyond that not combing your hair, putting your sweater on correctly, or whatever else it was, were the main issues I think I was pulled up about, (those I've maybe never bothered to take as seriously though I must admit).

What was it annoyed your parents most often, "talking too much", "talking too little", " not going to bed on time", "not eating your greens", what was it, (do you want to divulge anything?)?

"Eat your onions!" .. I still am not fond of onions. As a young child, would push every piece of onion to the
side of the plate. Not as bad now, but still leave some pieces of onion on the plate.

My brother was picky over eating vegetables, only really ate potatoes and peas, oh and baked beans, (though these were not served with roast dinners).

Trouble was my dad had similar feelings about cabbage etc., as a young man, and though he'd improved, eating Brussels sprouts too sometimes he wasn't a great fan so not very easy for him to criticise my brother for the same offence!
