Sigh, Time for the Doggie Diapers

I agree, I mean I guess it's different for people who fear companion creatures or just never had any pets. But like you say I can't imagine not having them. I mean litter boxes, cat gack, dog diapers, fleas, cleaning ears, worms, wet beds...But hey just comes with the love. Even more so than human kids sometimes. The right dog and you have someone who will think you walk on water...and that's for it's whole life. Cats can be cuddle bunnies too, but mostly they look at you, tails twitching...Meh, hey human ya wanna top up that food dish a bit there?

Yeah cats are definitely different. I think you just need to look at them like this (enables understanding), they are 'wild things' that have decided to trust us crazy, whacky humans if we prove we're worthy and 'safe'. They've lived with us humans but they're not really a domesticated animal and they've maintained an inherent wild skittishness and shyness that enables the wild creatures of the world to survive.

But when they do give their trust and their love, it's special. And I'm typing that as Ziggy is laying across my arms so that I can't even see my fingers because he's spread out over top of my keyboard :D!

Dogs and cats, cats and dogs, ya gotta love 'em! Give Sophie a hug for all of us here by the way!

My little Abby is close to 14 years, and she leaks. She accepts that she can no longer be on the bed. I bought her a dog bed which she took to immediately, but now I have to clean it often. It is a small price to pay.

Oh Dennis, that's so sweet. It's like a wedding vow for our fur kids about in sickness and in health. You're lucky Abby likes her bed. Sophie has had several that always ended up shredded.

Yes, maybe a visit to the vet. My pug Blossom, who is a rescue, started losing control during the night. Took her in and he put her on pills. Said females that have been spade sometimes have that muscle damaged during surgery. Never heard of it. So there are many thing it could be, but a pill will probably fix it. Sounds like a UTI. Good luck, as they age things do change.

Our little dog Diesel (may he rest in peace) had similar issues except more often than not, it was diarrhoea in the middle of the night! Problem was, if he couldn't sleep in the same large kennel as Max, he'd lie there and cry all night (or howl!). Do you have any idea what it's like to go into the laundry room to get them first thing in the morning, before you've even had your first cup of coffee and smell that and then to let them out and they're both smeared with what was last nights dinner? Bathing two dogs is not a fun way to start the day let me tell you!

I solved the problem by turning a long plastic bin into a bed with a little rail fence dividing it in half and two separate doors. That way he felt like he had a bed mate, and with the little doors they were each able to access a pee-pad in a sort of 'yard' of their own.
