Sign of the failing economy

I had some time to kill yesterday while waiting for my load to finish at the laundromat. I strolled up the street where I remember some curio and thrift stores were. I was shocked to find every store on that block vacant, with the exception of the attorney's office. It seems no businesses can make a go of it in my town, even dollar stores. And I wonder why no one is buying at my garage sales. The photo here was probably taken a while ago since the two stores on the right side are now gone. The lawyer's office is in the center.

Same in my area. There are a lot of strip malls that were chock full of stores years back, now many of them are vacant. We always see a new store here and there starting up, but sometimes they're gone before I ever even go inside. Big waste of space, and sad really. :(

It's very hard for small businesses to compete with mega corporations. I used to have a little video store & then Blockbuster came on the scene. They totally wiped out mom & pop video stores. People will always shop for the bargains & small businesses can't compete with these mega corporations
