4.5 litres in an imperial gallon... makes the price £6.30 per gallon equivelent to $8.45 USD approx..Per Gallon....

Diesel... £6.80 = $9.09 USD per GALLON...:(

Just doing a quick check, I'm finding that Texas has a $.20 / gallon tax, and federal tax of $.18 / gallon, so to get a true representation of the actual price of gas, the $2.27 / gallon average (for Texas) from the OP link has to be raised to $2.65, and that is $.54 / gallon lower than the $3.19 I paid Sunday, March 8th. It may be higher now - I haven't been there since Sunday.*

*Edited to update: Actual price range today posted in post #8

I gassed up at Kroger yesterday, March 11th. It was $3.19 with my Kroger discount.

The average around town, for now, is $3.30. It can change at noon and again after five.

I am glad I only have a 12 gallon tank and my Saturn gets good gas mileage.

I am waiting to see how much everything I normally buy goes up in price because it takes fuel to make everything.

I’m fortunate that I don’t use enough gas to worry too much about the price.

I only drive about 125-150 miles each month and much of that is unnecessary.

If things get too crazy and actual shortages develop everything that I need on a regular basis is within walking distance.

My local station is currently at $3.69/gallon for self service with a credit card at the pump.

We have an assortment of taxes added.

The local county sales tax of 4% is limited to the first $3.00/gallon. When the price goes above $3.00/gallon the tax is capped.

State Excise Tax: Approximately 8 cents per gallon.
Petroleum Business Tax (PBT): Approximately 17-18 cents per gallon.
Sales Tax: The minimum combined sales tax in Onondaga County is 8.0%, which applies to gasoline.
Federal Tax: 18.4 cents per gallon.

yes however over the last week, people have been posting the prices in their areas, and no-one has more than $4 a gallon...
Prices in some states are higher. California gas is, for sure. My local Costco has the cheapest gas at $4.89/gallon (I just checked their website). Other local stations are charging well over $5.00 and some are at $6.00/gal.

... that's still very low.. because $6 USD is only £4.45 approx.. which is still a lot less than we're paying....

I just paid $3.09/gal in Ky yesterday and I thought that was high. Then again, California is always higher in everything just about.

As soon as the war started, our prices went up. They’re ranging from $1.699/litre to $1.719.

Off topic - Gas Buddy is a great site for checking the prices of gas. I’ve used it for years. Avoid signing ups and letting them follow you, since they track you (who doesn’t) and sell your data to insurance companies.

Some of those sites get their info from the public calling in.....which means ANYBODY can call in and report a gas price.

There is a gas station that is the last one before you reach the airport and the rental car returns. They were always getting smacked by the City for not posting their prices, which were sometimes 4x the price of a station up the street. Finally, they were required to post their prices, which they did on small signs sitting on the ground, so that they were easy to miss.

People in a hurry to return rental cars would be willing to pay those high prices, rather than turn around and go back to another station.

Employees would constantly post lower prices on the "price list" websites. "Oh, that's only a little over the other station, let's just go there!" and then "WHAT THE HECK?" Just as soon as someone would post the correct price, somebody would post an incorrect price.

I read that they were constantly getting fined, but I'm sure they just wrote that into the cost of business.

In Germany there is such an app. In Hungary we don't need it, since the price is not very different during the day in the whole country. Hungary has one of the most cheap gasoline and diesel prices of all European countries.
