I feel so bad for these people who lost their lives and their families, may the deceased rest in peace. We vacationed a couple of times many years ago in Hawaii, and visited various islands. It's really beautiful there, especially the NaPali Coast. We did talk about taking one of those helicopter tours, but never followed through. Since then we've heard of many instances of copters going down in crashes, and would never take one now knowing what we know. Honestly, I'm not even crazy about planes, big or small. We took some small ones when we went island hopping.

Helicopter (and plane) maintenance costs. The worse the economy is, the more shortcuts will be taken with maintenance, inspection & parts replacement. The results are predictable.

My condolences to the families and close friends of the crash victims. I took a helicopter tour on Kauai about 17 years ago. Loved it, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Just watched the Peach Bowl. This morning a small plane in route to the game in Atlanta crashed a few minutes after taking off in Lafayette LA in dense fog. Five people in the plane were killed including the DIL of a LSU coach who was a sportscaster in New Orleans. One plane passenger is hospitalized along with a person injured on the ground.

Sad day. :(
