Six years ago UBER announced the commencement of an on-demand helicopter service.

Called Uber Copter.
UBER stated the new service that will provide on-demand transportation from Lower Manhattan to JFK airport.
It’s reserved for Platinum and Diamond members of Uber’s Rewards program, which means you’ll have to already be dropping a lot of cash on Uber rides to even qualify for whirligig service.
The current update states the service will be starting in early 2026, launching an integrated helicopter and seaplane booking directly within its app through a partnership with Blade Air Mobility and Joby Aviation. This service will allow users to book quick, 8-minute trips between Manhattan and JFK/Newark airports, aiming to reduce, an hour-long car trip, with prices ranging from $200–$250 per seat, including ground transport to the helipad.
The long-term goal is to introduce quiet, zero-emissions electric "air taxis" in collaboration with Joby Aviation.

I can’t imagine ever needing such a service.

My only concern is safety in such a densely populated area.

No matter how careful everyone is, sooner or latter we will witness a tragic accident.

Fear is not a good reason to stop progress and sadly tragic accidents are nothing new.

When our time is up, it’s up.

People who commute to New York (NYC) for work sure could use that Uber service now. The Hudson River is frozen so the ferries are not running. When the storm first hit, New Jersey Transit canceled all service at 2 p.m. on Sunday. They have buses and trains that go to NYC. Last I heard they were running again but on holiday schedules with significantly less departures.
