A trip up to Sizergh Castle in Cumbria yesterday. Took lots oif pix - I'll just share a few here.

Sizergh Castle and Garden is a stately home and garden at Helsington in the English county of Cumbria, about 4 miles south of Kendal. The castle, a grade I listed building, is in the care of the National Trust along with its garden and estate. The earliest part of the building is a tower of fourteenth or fifteenth century date. The Deincourt family owned this land from the 1170s. On the marriage of Elizabeth Deincourt to Sir William de Stirkeland in 1239, the estate passed into the hands of what became the Strickland family, who owned it until it was gifted to the National Trust in 1950.

I could go on a holiday to your country and spend my days from morning until night, perusing country sides for castles and old manor houses.

Is there anything more grand than stone and gated entries toped with classic stone urns?

And the gardens are my love!

-Oy-, you have the best job in the world. :)

I had planned several trips round Scotland and N.England to visit some National Trust properties, including Sizergh, but the dreaded virus put a stop to all my plans. I'll get to see them as soon as they are open and it's safe to visit.

Sizergh is open now but you have to book and get a time slot.
