I built the decking going off of the back porch out of treated decking lumber.
We figured that the preservative used in the wood had dried enough for the wife to give it a couple of coats of paint.
She did a good job of painting last summer.
Snow slid off of the painted decking like water off of a ducks back.
Now it got colder and the frost and thin patches of ice make it slick to walk on.
I don’t want to use ice melt because it might damage her paint job.
So I looked for ideas on the internet.
One idea I like is kitty litter because it might provide a little traction without damaging the paint.
At least as far as I know.
The only cats we have are the strays who pass through our yard so I’m not a real expert on cats or kitty litter.
If that doesn’t work I might have to use just a little bit of sand.
