Recently when visiting my sister, she told me her internet provider told her they had slowed down her internet speed as she had used her monthly allocation(What her plan is)she told them that can't be correct as her use of the computer is very limited. So I asked how much do you use the Smart TV, and she replied hours and hours Movies/TV series, etc,.....well then that is where your big data use is going I told her. She was totally unaware the WiFI signal from her modem was allowing her to view many TV channels.(She is 86).
Generally, a smart TV consumes under 1 GB for an hourlong HD (720p) streaming. The hourly data consumption for Full HD and 4K streaming is at least 2.5 GB and 5.5 GB, respectively.
Footnote: I did go to settings on the Smart TV and showed her where the login password for her modem was, and that would have been activated during installation.
