Snowman brooch

I'm not a brooch type person but do like to wear something Christmasy sometimes or wintery. Usually it's a pair of snowflake earrings.

I do have some gaudy Christmas jewelry that I would wear for the benefit of the younger grandsons....well, I liked it also...not so much now.

Forgot this one I have, not fancy, and I don't remember where it came from;) Some brooches are so heavy, but I think if I would wear a scarf and use the brooch on that it wouldn't seem heavy. I'd rather get a prettier one like your De;)

I remember that these were all the rage when I was a kid!

I also remember my mother squeezing one more year out of her old winter coat, that went on until I was old enough to be on my own.

I had one of those! LOL, I remember trying to read a comic book under my blankets by the light of Santa's nose when I was supposed to be sleeping! Bea, thanks for making me laugh with this memory.

Debodun, you certainly like brooches. I notice you frequently talk about them.
Personally I've never worn one, nor have I given or received one as a gift. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw someone wearing a brooch.

I think they have gone the way of our parents generation. My mom had a Christmas tree one that she would wear starting after Thanksgiving until Christmas. Usually on her coat. In fact, my mom was in the hospital during the last month of her life, which was during the holiday time. I brought her brooch t her and she wore it on her patient gown every day. Made her feel a bit festive, I think

I'm not a big jewelry wearer myself (except on special occasions), but I like to collect. Maybe after the holidays I'll start a thread for my costume jewelry and anyone that wants to share their pieces.
