So I thought my phone died...

Woke up this morning and tried to turn on my phone, and nuthin'. It had been on the wireless charger all night. I plugged it in to a different charger for a while. Still nuthin'. Well, damn. I've been wanting a new phone, but not just right now, because … Covid19. AT&T store opened at noon (limited hours now). Dave called and they have curb service. After lunch we went to the store, masked, and the employees were on the sidewalk outside the store, and were all wearing masks. I rolled down my window and described what had happened, told him my phone was dead and that I needed a new phone. Well, he says, maybe not. He told me to do a series of things (hit the volume down button, volume up, then hold down the side button for 20 seconds.) I thought, this will never work, but Lo! And behold! The phone turned on again. He said that if a phone is charging and for some reason overheats, it will shut down to save itself. I suspect it was because I put it on a cheap wireless charger all night. So I went on Facebook and gave them a shout out. Great customer service! Best possible outcome for me. Not ever charging on that wireless charger overnight again.

I had a similar experience with my T-Mobil phone. The guy at the store pushed some buttons and -- voila-- the phone was resurrected from the dead. He told me exactly what to do if it happened again. I had been resigned to having to buy a new one, but the guy saved me from having to do that. YAY!

I don't have a cell phone, but my cordless house phone has been acting up. Someone will call me, I'll pick up & there is no one on the line. Later, my friend will call & say, I could hear you saying "hello," what happened?
