Social media challenge-kick someone's door. 5 arrested in California

A Tik-tok social media challenge has teenagers kicking unsupecting home owners doors. Several finally arrested in California for getting caught doing it.

TikTok "Door Kick Challenge" leads to arrest of kids, costly damage in Elk Grove

No excuses social media or not. If they should kick open a door and are still in the doorway they rightfully could become a dead challenger with an unsuspecting resident acting accordingly.

I don't who is worse those that posted/initiated the challenge or those that actually took them up on it

I feel for the homeowners to have to pay to have everything fixed. Even if the offenders are ordered to pay for damages, I wonder how many will actually do it?

I know this isn't going to happen, but it's too bad that the parents aren't hauled into court & held responsible for their lack of parenting for what their kids did. Even if the kids are caught & go to court, will they be held responsible for their actions -or- will they be let go or convicted of a lesser offense citing BS reasons?

This seems to be the norm in so many cases.

In one case the jerks learned a lesson when the senior sprinted after them, caught one and wouldn’t let him go until the parents were brought in and all others were named.

Accountability for TikTok and the people stupid enough to try it. A severe penalty for such stupidity is appropriate.

I have to question why anyone would even view TikTok? I guess there are other platforms and social media that are just as disgusting/degenerate and people participate with them too:(

Yes Tik-tok not helping. But just because it's 'a' challenge doesn't make it right, legal or acceptable. That's the only lesson these kids and parents need.

Just like the old saying if you wanted to do everything your friends did-'If your friends jumped off a cliff would you? '

This still comes down to personal responsibility.

Had this happen a few years ago, got their photos on my Ring camera. I made a point to tell several neighbors I had three kids on camera pounding on my door at midnight. Word got around, hasn’t happened again. It’s dangerous around here, a good way to get killed.

We had a round of "ding-dong-ditch" going on a few months ago in the neighborhood, luckily not on my street. One of the hotter heads in the neighborhood put out a sign saying any "ding-dong-ditch" to his house would be met with "ding-dong-dead". Much clutching of pearls about that, but there wasn't any more ding-donging.

I'm with Pepper. Get this TikTok nonsense banned. There was some noise on getting rid of it, but the woke idiots won that round.
It wasn't the "woke idiots" who won that round.

I'm not going to delve any further into this because it gets political, but look it up for yourself and see who has delayed enforcement of the law (passed by Congress, signed into law, and upheld by the Supreme Court) requiring the Chinese company that owns TikTok to sell the US version to an American company.

Hint: Follow the money... see who has amassed a large platform and sees it as a way to engage young voters and possibly bring them into his fold.
