These probably aren't the best socks for those who live in warmer climates, but they are warm and comfortable for those who enjoy the four seasons and do a lot of outdoor walking in cool weather.

Years back my husband was the only one wearing these, I saw them in a sporting goods store one year and bought a few pairs. He loved them, and although they were a little bit big on me and bulky compared to the crew socks I was used to wearing, they seemed super comfortable. I remember describing them to my friend that they were more comfortable on my feet than no socks at all.

Since then, over the years, we bought more of them and both started wearing them almost daily. Yesterday I ordered 8 more pairs online, they're really nice too when we're out camping in cool mountain weather and doing a lot of hiking.

This place seemed to have the best price, and free shipping. http://www.gobros.com/thorlo-hiking-socks-thick-padding-mens-kx-en.html#.VmJFinarTq4

Do you have a favorite brand of socks that you buy frequently??

I wish I knew the brand. Last year a supermarket Shop-Rite sold a kind of socks. They were fuzzy on the inside and smooth outside. Could keep your feet cozy in Alaska. Kind of unisex so I got some for my son too. I wish I knew a brand. They were sold out by the end of the season.

The arthritis affecting my fingers has done so also with a couple of toes. Thus, even with filed, trimmed nails, it's difficult to pull the socks on without "snagging". Wal-Mart sold a "non-snag" awhile back, but I can no longer find them.

Tried some from Dollar-Tree, made in China. Perfect! Best yet. Brand? Cannot reproduce it here, keyboard not Oriental! :p

I have an older friend, she doesn't have Diabetes, but she has other health problems including her heart. I noticed she was cutting the tops of her socks and when I asked her why she said that they were digging into her calf and cutting off her circulation. I bought her some Dr. Scholl's Diabetic socks from Walmart and she liked them very much, they were comfortable and solved her problem.

I have a "thing" about clean white socks. Down here with the red clay soil, it's hopeless to keep them white for very long. So I buy cheap socks from the dollar stores. When they get too ugly I throw them in a pile for dust rags, or whatever. Boy do I have a big pile of dust rags! Now if I could only get motivated to do the dusting.:(

Yeah, I know, Karen. But did you ever try wearing black socks with shorts? Even working in the yard, it looks too awful. Somehow I can tolerate socks with shorts as long as they are white. Maybe it's because I grew up in the bobby sox and saddle shoes era.:)

I only wear socks when I go out with long pants and track shoes or boots and stick to 100% cotton, always black, if I can find them, usually at winners, maybe Roots brand. In the summer only bare feet and sandals with shorts and capris. Around the house, bare feet with my slides, even in winter as I have warm feet.
