Soda can give false positives on one type of covid test

A soda especially coca cola is apparently being used to or can lead to a false postive covid result on a lateral flow test.

Wow, I sure would have been all over that had the covid been around during my school days back in the 50s.
I tried everything in the book and then some to get out of going to school,

My thing this is calculated technique but what else could cause false positives accidentally. Think of all the positive but asymptomatic cases. I would find it hard to believe other tests are not open to mistake or a misinterpretation/reaction to certain variables

Or a negative test for that matter. Should add in the original op article it also mentions fruit can do the samething in many cases.
