Dog 1- A Chihuahua weighing perhaps a pound and a half...in a muzzle. The owner was walking it and saying she was afraid of him. Poor little guy let me pet him. Then as they walked you could see him stop every few inches and try to work off the muzzle with a teeny tiny paw.
Dog 2-was some kind of houndy mix. She was wearing one of those spike lined collars. If you're not a dog person they're marketed to people who have really strong out of control dogs. A grown Husky or Rottie without prior leash experience might benefit. But you have to know for how long and optimal training methods.
For the average dog those collars hurt a lot.
Both of these dogs were scared witless. I know the look in Sophie. Trembling, licking their lips, whale eyes-panic that shows the whites of their eyes. These stupid humans, the guy with dog two was pulling at her and berating her with senseless commands.
I might add that a big box pet store is a chapter from Hell for a fearful dog. The noise, the smells, strange humans and strange dogs, overwhelming bright lights. Two owners there who either need guidance or have no business having a dog
