Something I should have thought twice about

During my days working with 3 year olds, we always opened the day on the carpet with Class News: birthdays, trips, etc
On a particular day a child was turning 4 years old. So as was the routine on the chalkboard I drew the lines up to 4
and we counted them out. The term they used at that age was "How many are you?"
Then my most brilliant student asks me "Ms Sharon, how many are you?"
You'd think I'd see this coming wouldn't you?
So clever me thinks... what a good lesson in more or less, right?
So I begin making the 4 lines down and the one across for 5 ( I really should have chose a group of 10)
On the third grouping the oooo's and ahhh's began. ugh
Well, 15 was not truthful so let's keep going... total 42
When I stopped more than one yells... "WOW that is A LOT!"
I never felt so old in my life I do believe.
