Sophie Has Had a Bad Couple Days

Day One- Three major thunderstorms in one day. Maybe a four hour delay between storms.
Day Two- The 4th of July, rainstorms and assorted fireworks.
Day Three- Another delayed storm front and township fireworks that were delayed yesterday.

Sophie barks hysterically with fireworks and thunder makes her hyper-ventilate and cower in terror.

That's a ruff three days! Have you ever tried a "thundershirt" or something similar?

I have no idea if they work or not - my two little yappers are not bothered by noises.

Awwww..the poor pup..it's so hard on some dogs. I have a thundershirt for Suzy. But she doesn't get upset by lightening or fireworks. She gets upset if I leave.

I think in old age the Thundershirt might freak her worse. My poor Callie? Lightening or a thunderstorm? Even the vacuum monster? Well time for a nap. Sophie? What is going on there? Why is she running and barking? I slept next to a firing range...get a grip old girl...

My dog is afraid of gunshots and fireworks. I recently discovered that the FDA has approved a new drug for dogs who are afraid of various noises. I don't know if it is expensive. I do know that it does not sedate the dog. It takes 30-60 minutes to work (which is the kicker if the noise problem doesn't last much longer than that), and is effective for 2-3 hours. Here is some info about it, if you are interested in talking with your vet about it: http://news.zoetis.com/press-releas...es-launch-sileo-treatment-noise-aversion-dogs

My little dog did better this fourth. She laid next to me on the couch as usual but didn't tremble or shake as she usually does.

I fell asleep and must have disturbed her with a movement because when I woke up she was in her "scared place" which is on the floor under an end table, between the side of the couch and her dog bed. Not IN the dog bed but by its side. Strange.

Fur, how's the torn paw pad today?

Much, much better, thank you for asking. I've been dousing it in hydrogen peroxide daily. I got a sample bottle one time of spray on dog bandage. I think it works really well. They both got baths today and his paw looks almost good as new:love_heart:

Glad to hear the paw is healing, the spray on dog bandage sounds interesting, good to hear it works!

Good news on the paw! I think keeping it clean is key -- not always easy with a dog. I'm interested in that spray bandage stuff. Who makes it or where did you get it? I think I'd like to get some.
